Success at Richland Community College
Before transferring to the University of Tulsa, Sergio made his mark at Richland Community College. During his time at Richland, Sergio was a key player in helping the team achieve remarkable success, including two NJCAA National Championships. His contributions were instrumental in the team’s impressive 46-0-2 record over two seasons, solidifying his reputation as a top-tier midfielder.
Shining at the University of Tulsa
Sergio’s success at Richland earned him a transfer to the University of Tulsa, where he continued to excel. As a junior in 2022, he started in all 17 games, making an immediate impact in the highly competitive American Athletic Conference. Sergio’s ability to contribute offensively was evident as he scored three goals and provided five assists, tallying 11 points for the season. Notably, he ranked fifth in shots (43) and 10th in assists (5) within the conference, showcasing his effectiveness as a playmaker.
His standout moments included scoring the game-winning goal against Memphis and adding key goals against Marquette and Temple. Sergio also demonstrated his playmaking abilities with assists in critical matches against Kansas City, Kentucky, South Florida, UCF, and Creighton.
